When faced with the impossible choice, defend yourself or fight back, what would you do?
In “And So I Stayed,” we get a glimpse into this reality through the lives of three survivors of domestic violence who killed their partners in self-defense. Join the YWCA Piece County and University of Tacoma Washington’s School of Criminal Justice and Social Work for this special screening of this new documentary by filmmakers Natalie Pattillo and Daniel A. Nelson. After the film, a panel of researchers and community advocates will discuss how incarceration impacts survivors of domestic violence in our community. This is your opportunity to learn more about the intersections of domestic violence and the carcel system, as well as current legislative and community action happening to support survivors in these situations.
