Tanya Brunke was the Executive Director when YWCA Pierce County opened Washington’s first domestic violence shelter. The new shelter sparked controversy among some community members, yet despite the death threats she received, Tanya understood the importance of protecting and empowering women who’ve experienced domestic violence. She wanted to ensure survivors could rebuild their lives and achieve financial independence. As part of her legacy, a scholarship fund was established in her honor to help survivors pay for college or job training. Since 2003, the Tanya Brunke Scholarship Fund has made it possible for 16 survivors of domestic violence to obtain an education and live empowered lives free from violence. This scholarship fund is a vehicle for our clients to gain expertise and use a degree to find employment that pays a living wage. YWCA Pierce County wants to continue this legacy and infuse the scholarship fund to provide more survivors with access to education.

The condo is 2 bedrooms (sleeps 6): 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, queen sleeper sofa, 2 baths, and full kitchen.

Check in at 4 PM on 2/12/19 and check out at 10 AM on 2/17/19. Dates may be changed (subject to availability) to another 5 night period in January or February 2019, providing at least 90 days notice prior to scheduled arrival. Some on-site fees may apply.
